Customer: “I am calling to let you know that you are running an illegal operation.”

Me: “Pardon me?”

Customer: “That’s right! My computer says so right on the screen!”

Me: “Ma’am, that’s a Microsoft error message that says, ‘Your program has performed an illegal operation’.”

Customer: “There is nothing wrong with my computer! I have a 15 inch neck!” *hangs up*

(I assume the customer was referring to her monitor… a 15 inch NEC.)
hee hee hee, thanks, I needed that. I've had tons of customers say things like that to me.

Like one time, this end user called in wanting me to reset their Windows password. Ok, no problem, this is one of our normal calls. I go through the motions, and something just isn't sounding right. So I ask the caller how long he had been with the company, as I worked for his employer's HelpDesk. He told me he was with the company for years, so I'm almost stumped as to why this reset idn't working. So I asked again for his pc's info to verify he was using a company pc, and he gives it to me again and it checks out. So something just tells me to ask him if this was the machine he is trying to get into, even though that should be obvious, and he says "of course not, i'm at home using my home pc." I spent the next 15 mins explaining why I can't reset his home Windows password and can only reset ones that are on a company imaged machine that is on the company's intranet. He just did not understand why I was not able to reset any Windows password, and actually started to accuse me of not wanting to help, as well as trying to say that I didn't understand his issue. I was very polite about it, but basically told him he was too stupid to use a computer. I never talked to him again, so I'm not sure if he either never called back or got fired for being an idiot. lol

I really think we need to update from the AS/400 iSeries...

Might as well get rid of my color monitor and just use the old 'green screens'
